Calcium carbonate IP 1250 mg (from an organic source, oyster shell) Eq. to elemental calcium 500 mg+ Vitamin D3 IP 1000 I.U Tablets
In gastric parietal cells, rabeprazole is protonated, accumulates, and is transformed to an active sulphenamide. When studied in vitro, rabeprazole is chemically activated at pH 1.2, with a half-life of 78 seconds. It inhibits acid transport in porcine gastric vesicles, with a half-life of 90 seconds.
Calcium carbonate is well absorbed from the GI tract in the presence of gastric acid where it is converted to calcium chloride. Calcium carbonate is absorbed as free calcium and bicarbonate ions. Approximately half the calcium in serum is protein bound, 5 -10% complexed in the form of small readily diffusible organic salts and the remainder as free ions. Vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, is the natural human form of vitamin D. It is made in the skin when 7-dehydrocholesterol reacts with ultraviolet light in the skin. Cholecalciferol is transported to the liver where it is hydroxylated to calcidiol or 25-hydroxy-vitamin D, the storage form of the vitamin. Oral administration of Vitamin D3 is completely absorbed from the small intestine and enhances the absorption of calcium.
Used as a calcium supplement in calcium deficiency states and for the supplementation of calcium during growth, pregnancy and lactation.
